NAKAKAN – Artist Profile
Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, in 1983. Lived in Germany for approximately seven years until last autumn, returning to Japan thereafter.
While based in Germany, traveled extensively across Europe, visiting museums and churches. Through the acoustics of architectural spaces, sacred music, and visual art, developed a strong sense of spatial awareness and structural composition in music.
On July 6, 2023, founded the Japan Dumpling Association, a Japan-based organization dedicated to addressing issues faced by single-parent families. Musical activities officially started that same year under the name NAKAKAN as part of this initiative.
For the first single, “Dumpling Dance,” the artist handled lyrics, composition, and arrangement.
The subsequent single, “Global One,” was produced entirely with English lyrics, expressing musical sensibilities that transcend differences in nationality and culture.
Prior to the NAKAKAN project, was involved for approximately 15 years in music production projects within the music industry under a different name, including works officially released through Victor Entertainment and avex trax.
In addition, at the Music Creative Talent Contest organized by Nippon Engineering College, a musical work written and composed by the artist was awarded the Excellence Award by a jury that included Satoshi Takebe and Masayuki Sakamoto.
In music production, NAKAKAN explores new possibilities of musical expression within international songwriting environments, guided by a flexible perspective unconstrained by borders or genres.
